This is the perfect cookie for the upcoming holiday season!
Makes about 48
1 cup (250 mL) softened butter
1 cup (250 mL) granulated sugar pinch salt 1 egg
1 tsp (5 mL) ground cinnamon
1 tsp (5 mL) pure vanilla extract
¼ tsp (1 mL) ground nutmeg
2 cups (500 mL) flour
icing sugar for dipping your fork
Preheat oven to 350°F (180ºC)
Cream butter, granulated sugar until light and fluffy.Then beat in salt, egg, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg . Gradually beat in flour on low speed until well mixed. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on parchment lined baking sheets. Gently flatten cookies with a fork that you’ve dipped in icing sugar.
Bake for about 12 minutes or until lightly browned around edges.
Cool cookies on baking sheets 1 minute, then cool completely on wire racks.
